The occupiers have stopped the “evacuation” from Kherson – there are no more people willing to leave the city – General Staff

The enemy continues to carry out offensive actions in the Bakhmut and Avdiiv directions – during the past 24 hours, the troops of Ukraine repelled the attacks of the occupiers in the areas of the settlements Novoselivske and Makeevka of the Luhansk region and Soledar, Klishchievka, Mayorsk, Yakovlivka, Andrievka, Bilogovka, Vesele, Nevelske, Pervomaiske and Novomykhaylovka, Donetsk region.

This was reported in the morning summary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

During the specified time, the Russians launched 11 missile and 22 air strikes, carried out more than 35 attacks with rocket systems for volley fire. More than 30 settlements in Donetsk, Luhansk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv, Sumy and Kherson regions were affected by this.

The aviation of the Defense Forces of Ukraine carried out 6 strikes on the enemy. 2 areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment, as well as 4 positions of the enemy’s anti-aircraft defense equipment, were hit.

During the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian military shot down 5 Shahed and 3 Orlani UAVs in different directions. And the rocket launchers and snipers struck a command post, an area of concentration of manpower, weapons and military equipment, a warehouse for ammunition and other important military objects of the occupiers.

“On the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, in the town of Dzhankoy, the invaders moved a civilian hospital into a military hospital. There are up to 800 wounded occupiers in it. According to detailed information, the so-called evacuation of the population from the city of Kherson has been stopped due to a lack of applicants. In the city, the occupation authorities stopped the issuance of salaries and social benefits”reported by the General Staff.

We will recall that a day ago, the military leadership of the Russian Federation announced that it was withdrawing its formations from the right bank of the Dnieper to the left bank and allegedly withdrawing from Kherson.

According to analysts at the Institute for the Study of War, the Russian contingent will need some time to do so, but it is not yet clear whether the Russians will be able to withdraw in relatively good order under pressure from Ukraine.

“The battle for Kherson is not yet over, but Russian forces have entered a new phase, prioritizing the withdrawal of their forces across the river in full order and delaying Ukrainian forces, rather than seeking to completely halt the Ukrainian counteroffensive. Ukraine’s counteroffensive toward Kherson since August — a coordinated interception campaign aimed at forcing Russian troops to withdraw beyond the Dnieper without requiring major ground offensives by Ukrainian forces — has most likely succeeded.– stated in the message.

ISW emphasized that in the previous months, Ukrainian troops had continuously attacked bridges across the Dnieper and struck supply nodes and ammunition depots on the east bank of the river, reducing the ability of Russian troops to supply the group on the west bank. Such strikes were combined with careful and successful ground attacks on key points such as David’s Bridge.

According to experts, the commander of Russian forces in Ukraine, General Surovikin, has directly admitted that Russian forces cannot supply their group in Kherson, and Russian sources note that the withdrawal of troops is a natural consequence of targeted and systematic Ukrainian strikes.

The Institute for the Study of War disagrees with the suggestion that the departure of the Russians could be a trap for the Armed Forces. However, the Russians will certainly try to slow down the advance of the defense forces. Some units may remain in Kherson, but such fighting will be a means of withdrawing as many Russian units in good condition as possible.

“The Russian news space predictably reacted to the withdrawal announcement with varying degrees of anger and anxiety. Russian sources also stressed that it was a major defeat for Russian troops as they were losing territory that Russia had annexed and claimed as its own.analysts say.

We recall that the head of the joint coordination press center of the Southern Defense Forces Nataliya Gumenyuk spoke about a possible provocation by the occupiers and creating a wrong idea about the true intentions of the Russians in the Kherson region.
