The Council is preparing to recognize the independence of yet another region of Russia

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, which previously recognized the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria as temporarily occupied by Russia, registered a draft resolution for a similar decision regarding the Republic of Tatarstan.

The document has been registered and submitted for consideration in the leadership of the parliament. The authors of the document are MPs Oleg Dunda, Vitaly Bezgin, Maria Mezentseva, Georgii Mazurashu and Yulia Klimenko.

By the way, a petition addressed to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, calling for the recognition of this republic as independent, appeared recently. Among its signatories is Rafis Kashapov, deputy head of the government of independent Tatarstan in exile.

In particular, the results of the referendum on March 21, 1992, when 61.4 percent of the citizens of Tatarstan voted for the state sovereignty of Tatarstan, are mentioned. In total, 81.7 percent of the republic’s residents participated in the survey.

Russia now has time to react to the draft resolution, declaring it a “vile provocation”.

We recall that the Ukrainian parliament recently declared support for Japan’s position regarding its northern territories (the southern part of the Kuril Islands) and recognized that they continue to be under Russian occupation.
