After the Rashist occupation of part of the Kherson region since March 2022, the supply of water from the Dnieper to Crimea has become a key topic of propaganda. “Suddenly” it became clear that the peninsula is not ready for water supply to the Dnieper, the equipment has been stolen since 2014, rural “municipalities” are unable to effectively “regulate” irrigated agriculture.
“In October 2022, the occupiers began propaganda preparations for the aggressor’s army to blow up the dam of the Kakhovskaya HPP and blame it on the Ukrainian structures. But in this terrorist operation of the aggressor there was a “side effect”, since even for the “consumers” of Russian propaganda, the explosion of the dam wall will mean a decrease in the water level in the Kakhovsky reservoir and, accordingly, the termination of the North Crimean Canal— reports the Association for the Reintegration of Crimea — From this point of view, the statements of the “head of the specialized commission” of the fake “state council” Alexii Gusev, published the other day in the racist media, are interesting. The associate states in the “interview” that “the canal will continue to work”, in fact the task of the “good news” from Gusev is to promise Crimeans that “there will be water in Crimea” even after the dam is blown up. He puts the main emphasis on “water conservation” and states that in particular, in 2022-2023, 2.4 billion rubles of “federal funding” will pass “through his hands” to “reduce losses in water supply networks.” At the same time, it is promised that these funds will be “used” to repair “whole” 170 kilometers of water pipes, while in one city of Simferopol, the length of water pipes exceeds 1,200 kilometers, and water losses in Crimea’s networks amount to at least 60%. Referring to the events of 2014-2021, when no water was supplied from the Dnieper to Crimea, Gusev “reassuringly” stated that then “no one died of hunger and thirst. No one escaped from Crimea”.
According to experts, such belated “admissions” directly contradict the previous rhetoric of the aggressor, who noted the “water of the Dnieper in Crimea” as the alleged “main target” of aggression against mainland Ukraine.
“The aggressor promised false “trials” in this matter until 2022 and even unsuccessfully filed a complaint with the European Court of Human Rights. It is now obvious that this “goal” declared by the aggressor was only a formal pretext for the Kremlin against the background of its criminal intent to commit genocide against the Ukrainian people, and Gusev’s current statements fully confirm this.
Let’s recall the point of view of the Russian political technologist Stanislav Belkovsky: “Control over Mariupol, Berdyansk, Melitopol and Nova Kakhovka is more important than over Kherson.”
