A fine of up to 17,000 UAH or up to 5 years in prison: the Metropolitan of the Moscow Patriarchate is declared a suspect

A priest of one of the dioceses of the UOC MP in Vinnytsia was notified of the suspicion. In his sermons, the metropolitan offends the feelings of the faithful and incites religious enmity.

SBU officials found confirmation of this after analyzing the materials published on the church official’s personal website.

“According to the conclusions of an independent investigation initiated by the Security Service of Ukraine, the metropolitan committed deliberate actions aimed at inciting religious enmity and insulting the feelings of citizens in connection with their religious beliefs.“, says the announcement of the SBU.

The Metropolitan is suspected of violating part 2 of Art. 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the equality of citizens depending on their racial, national, regional affiliation, religious beliefs, disability and other characteristics).

The penalty under this article is a fine of up to 17,000 UAH or up to 5 years in prison.

We recall that in the Vinnytsia region, at the funeral of a Ukrainian military representative of the Moscow Patriarchate, he attacked a priest from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
