For the first time in the Arctic, a Forum of folk crafts “Protection and promotion of cultural heritage: artistic crafts of the region” was held. Artisans from all over Russia discussed problems in the field of arts and crafts, as well as effective ways to preserve and develop traditional folk crafts.
Participants were masters of folk and decorative and applied art, specialists in the field of culture and tourism, representatives of state institutions and authorities, the scientific community from 17 regions of Russia.
During the two days of the forum, the Murmansk Regional Art Museum hosted a folk art fair launched as part of the Night of Arts campaign, where guests could participate in demonstrations and educational workshops. Within the framework of the forum, the 47th regional exhibition of amateur fine and decorative art of the Arctic was opened, which presented to the public 270 works of 85 masters from Murmansk, Kola, Murmashi, Tuloma, Severomorsk, Kandalaksha, Kirovsk, Polar Apatites, Monchegorsk, Nikkel , Lovozero. The exhibition is open until December 25 at the “House of Crafts” (Akademika Knipovicha St., 23A). More than six thousand northerners and guests of the region became guests.
