The 42-year-old man from Krasnodar managed to deceive a resident of the Volotovsky district by promising the woman to help with the adoption of a child. The victim gave the attacker a six-figure sum.
According to the prosecutor’s office of the Novgorod region, the indictment against the man has already been approved. He is accused of committing a crime under an article of the Criminal Code “Fraud committed by causing significant harm to a citizen”.
According to the investigators, in March this year, while residing in the Krasnodar Territory, the said citizen published an advertisement on the VKontakte social network for the provision of assistance services in the adoption of a minor child. In fact, however, the defendant did not have such an opportunity.
Subsequently, the man began correspondence with the injured resident of the Novgorod Region. He introduced himself to her as a medical worker and promised, for a fee, to find a newborn child and draw up legal documents for its adoption. The woman, in turn, transferred more than 110 thousand rubles to the bank card belonging to the fraudster. Now the defendant from Krasnodar has disposed of the received award at his discretion.
The accused fully admitted his guilt in committing the crime. The criminal case with the indictment approved by the prosecutor was sent to the Soletsky District Court for examination on the merits.
We add that the maximum penalty for this crime is imprisonment for up to 5 years with or without restriction of liberty for up to one year.
