IIT JAM Economics is a Joint Admission Test for the M.Sc. program in Economics at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc). The test is conducted by one of the IITs on a rotational basis.
Candidates who wish to pursue a Master’s degree in Economics at IITs and IISc are required to appear for the JAM Economics test. The test consists of multiple-choice questions and is usually conducted in the month of February. The test scores are used for admission to the M.Sc. Economics program at the participating institutes.

IIT JAM Economics Question Paper
IIT JAM Economics question papers consist of a total of 60 multiple-choice questions divided into three sections: Section A, Section B and Section C.
- Section A: This section consists of 30 multiple-choice questions of one mark each. All questions in this section are compulsory.
- Section B: This section consists of 10 multiple-choice questions of two marks each. All questions in this section are compulsory.
- Section C: This section consists of 20 multiple-choice questions of two marks each. Candidates are required to attempt only one question out of two.
The question paper is designed to test the candidate’s understanding of basic mathematical tools and concepts, as well as their ability to apply these tools to solve economic problems. The paper also tests the candidate’s knowledge of micro- and macroeconomics, quantitative methods and their ability to analyze economic data.

It is advisable for the aspirants to practice with the past year papers to get an idea about the pattern of questions and the level of difficulty.
